Today on our 2014 Ram 1500, we're going to be installing Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera. So as we back up here to our trailer, we can use it to guide us in, to make sure that our hitch ball is going to line up, and that we don't get too close and back into our trailer. As we're backing up, we can hear the beeps indicating we're getting close. And as the beep intensity increases, we know we're getting very close. And we're there. It features a full color, three and a half inch display. The base at the bottom has a sticky pad on it, so you can mount it wherever you'd like. And it can swivel on that mounting pad. more

K-Source Back-Up Camera Installation - 2013 Dodge Durango

Today on our 2013 Dodge Durango we're installing our K-Source Vision System Rear-Mounted Camera and Rear-View Mirror Display Monitor, part number KSVS-8. This is what our mirror looks like once it's installed. For normal operation I'll put our car in run mode without starting it. I'm going to push on the brake, put it in reverse, and our camera should turn on. This is where you can adjust it. If it's not pointing in the right direction where you want it to be, this is where you can go back on the camera and you can move it down or point it up a little bit further. This stays on as long as you're in reverse. more

Accele Electronics Backup Sensor System Installation - 2013 Dodge Durango

Today on our 2013 Dodge Durango, we're installing our Accele Electronics 4-Sensor Vehicle Back Up Sensor System, part number for this is BU500. As I back up to the bike, once the sensor has recognized that the bike is there, it will start beeping at me and telling me how many feet I am away from it. 4.5ft, 4ft, 3.5ft, 3ft. starts beeping faster. We're at 2 and 1/2ft, 2ft, 1 and 1/2ft, it's got a constant sound because it doesn't want you to back up any further. This has a nice feature, we've got four sensors, it's got four lines to tell you which sensor you're getting close to. We'll start on the far left, it shows our far left sensor. We'll show the next left, shows that sensor. more

Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera Installation - 2009 Dodge Ram- Video

Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera Installation - 2009 Dodge Ram

Today on our 2009 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 Series we'll be installing the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System, Part Number HM50002. Now, to begin with we're going to need to locate the seven-way plug on the back of the vehicle. As you will see this factory plug is a little bit different than what comes on the Hopkins Backup Camera. Because the two plugs will not match, it will not be a simple plug-and-play installation. We will need to cut the end that has the two round plugs off of our wiring harness. Now, to install the license plate holder with the camera and the backup sensors on it, we'll simply use the two longer screws provided with the kit and attach it to our holes that would typically hold our license plate to the rear bumper here. Now, that we have that secure, we'll go ahead and take the wire lead that comes off the back of the camera and fish it behind the bumper. more

Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera Installation - 2009 Dodge Ram Pickup

Today on this 2009 Dodge Ram Pickup we'll be installing the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera, part number HM50002. Other items that we'll be using during the installation include the Loctite RTV 598 High-Performance Silicone Gasket Maker, part number LT37467. To begin with, we'll need to remove the two screws that hold the rear license plate to the vehicle. Once we do that, we'll go ahead and take the bracket that has the camera as well as the two sensors, one on either side, and we'll put our license plate into the bracket. Then we'll use the two longer screws that come with the kit to reconnect our bracket and license plate to the rear of the vehicle. You'll also notice that there's a short lead that comes off the back of the camera. In this case, we'll feed it in between the rear bumper and the lower part of the bed. Once we have the license plate and the camera bracket back into place, now we can go up underneath the vehicle. more
